Kindergarten Readiness
According to the Maryland 2023-2024 Kindergarten Readiness Assessment Report, only 40% of children in Anne Arundel County demonstrate readiness for kindergarten. Kindergarten readiness, early literacy and community engagement have long been priorities at AACPL. Thanks to additional funding from Anne Arundel County, the library will be able to expand its kindergarten readiness program.
With two new vehicles and six additional staff, the library can bring its well-known school readiness programs to underserved communities.

Babies at Play
Babies from birth to 18 months (with caring adult) may enjoy books, music and a variety of developmentally appropriate toys during this hour of unstructured social time.
Family Storytime
Families with young children enjoy a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movement activities while building early literacy skills.

Explore open-ended activities and different art techniques with a focus on the creative process. This activity may get messy, so please dress accordingly!
Littles will explore the library, get to use a beep-beep scanner, push a cart, and have a build-your-own storytime kit bundle ready to take home.
