Workplace Giving
Workplace giving campaigns such as Maryland Charity Campaign (code: 6972), Chesapeake Bay Area Combined Federal Campaign (code 65778) and United Way (code 65778) allow you to donate by spreading out payroll deductions over the course of a year.
IRA Distribution
A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE 70½ YEARS OLD AND OLDER
You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $100,000) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity, such as the Library Foundation, without having to pay income taxes on the money. Gifts of any value $100,000 or less are eligible for this benefit and you can feel good knowing that you are making your library better. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short.
Employer Matching Programs
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift program, contact your Human Resources Department. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer and send the completed and signed form with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.
