Anne Arundel County Public Library sets loan policy and limits that will provide customers with fair and reasonable access to the library's resources.
A. Checkout
- Customers should present their library card to check out materials.
- In the absence of a library card in hand, a customer may not use another person’s library account to check out, even if the other person is a member of the household. Exception: Staff may check out a hold request being picked up on behalf of the customer.
- If the library card is not in the customer’s possession, materials may be checked out with photo identification. If customers do not have photo identification, they will have to verify identifying information.
- Scanned barcode images of the library card on personal devices of the cardholder are also acceptable.
B. Loan Periods
- All items circulate for 21 days with the following exceptions:
- Interlibrary Loan OCLC items are specified by the ILL Department.
- Reference materials may circulate for the time authorized by the person in charge.
- High demand items circulate for 7 days.
C. Loan Limits
- Total items checked out may not exceed 99 items per library account.
- Wi-Fi Hotspots, Chromebook Kits, and museum and park passes are limited to 1 per account.
- A limit may be placed on the number of high demand items on one topic that can be checked out by a customer. The decision will be made at the discretion of the Person-In-Charge.
D. Renewals
- Most items are limited to 5 renewals.
- Interlibrary Loan Marina items can be renewed two times.
- Interlibrary Loan OCLC items are specified by the ILL Department.
