Annapolis, Md., (March 21, 2022) –Officials from the Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) today announced its’ board of trustees is seeking six new members for the 17-member body. Terms would begin in June and last three years with the option of renewing for two additional three-year terms.
“The library is designed to serve the needs of everyone in our community- no matter where you live,” said William A. Shorter, Jr., chairman of the library board of trustees. “To ensure that all areas of the county are represented we are encouraging residents of council districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 to apply.”
The AACPL Board of Trustees is the library’s governing body comprised of volunteers representing all areas of our county. Trustees come to their volunteer roles with a range of experiences and backgrounds, and a strong desire to ensure the long-term vitality of our public libraries. Board members must be residents of Anne Arundel County.
The library’s board meets monthly at 4 pm on the third Thursday of each month with a break in July and August. Meetings, open to the public, are held at various libraries around the county and on zoom. Each member is also assigned to one of three committees, human resources and diversity; governance, strategy and organization; or finance and audit.
