Anne Arundel County Public Library Hosts Events to Celebrate Military Family Appreciation Month

(October 28, 2024 – Annapolis, MD) Anne Arundel County Public Library is offering the following events throughout November at area libraries to celebrate Military Family Appreciation Month: 

Brooklyn Park 

Thank You to Our Troops 

Wednesday, November 6 at 4 pm 

Write a letter to our troops to thank them for their service. 

 

Busch Annapolis  

Music in the Navy: A Salute to Veterans and Military Families with the U.S. Naval Academy Band 

Thursday, November 7 at 6 pm 

Join musicians of the United States Naval Academy ceremonial unit to hear music and learn about the Naval Academy and music in the Navy. 

 

Flicks with Sticks: The Best Years of Our Lives (1946, NR) 

Saturday, November 16 at 1:30 pm 

Bring your knitting, crocheting and other needlework to enjoy crafting along to a movie! Patterns will be provided for those who wish to knit or crochet items requested by Luminis Anne Arundel Medical Center. Non-crafters are also welcome.

Military Family Appreciation Social Hour 

Saturday, November 9 at 2 pm 

Enjoy a social hour for military families and their friends and family. Light refreshments provided. Registration is required and opens two weeks before the event.

Big Feelings Storytime 

Thursday, November 7 at 6 pm 

Families will enjoy books and songs about big feelings and how to take care of ourselves and each other. Stick around afterwards for a fun craft activity! Information about resources for military families will also be available from the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals.

Thursday, November 14 at 6 pm 

Naval officer, historian and author Stan Fisher will discuss how America's naval success in World War II against Japan depended on enlisted aircraft technicians’ crucial role in the US victory.

Did you know that U.S. military exchanges in some foreign countries do not sell greeting cards? Join the team from Making Cards for Our Troops in making blank professional quality greeting cards. 

 

South County Senior Center Book Club - The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien

This month we will be discussing The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. This book club is held in partnership with the South County Senior Activity Center. All are welcome.
