Frequently Asked Questions

The new Glen Burnie Library is currently in the schematic design phase, the first part of the architectural design process, where a project team translates a concept into physical drawings. From start of design to finish, a building typically takes three years. When it is available, a timeline will be provided on this webpage.

The new library will be built on the footprint of the current site at Eastway, off Ritchie Highway.

Anne Arundel County has committed to funding a temporary library while the current building is closed for replacement. The location and opening date for the temporary library will be determined closer to when construction begins on the new library.

The new library will include a brand-new collection of books, public computers, group meeting room space, individual study rooms and more. Once the design phase is complete, we’ll have a better idea of what new features the library will offer.

The new building will be double the size of the existing library.
