Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) has a dedicated team of volunteers assisting in many libraries throughout the County! Volunteering provides a great opportunity for individuals to serve their community, expand their knowledge about the library and learn about career opportunities within the library system.
Staff are often looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of library activities such as unpacking books, searching the collection for specific items, preparation of craft materials and special projects. Some library gardens are maintained by local garden clubs and volunteers. Some branches also recruit teen volunteers called Volunteens in the spring for our Summer @ Your Library program. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to apply.
Library volunteer positions usually require the ability to bend, lift boxes and books, push a book cart, and stand for periods of time. Volunteers are recruited, interviewed and trained at the local library level. If you can commit to volunteering regularly, please contact your local library branch. Due to the nature of the jobs and the training involved, libraries prefer a commitment of at least six months. Please contact a library location near you to find out if there are volunteer openings.
