Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) is proud to be part of the 9th annual Maryland STEM Festival, a family-friendly celebration of all things STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). The "STEM-ertainment" themed festival will be running from October 13 to November 11. It will feature interactive programs aimed at igniting children's interest in STEM and inspiring enthusiasm for STEM-related careers.
STEM Events at AACPL
AACPL has lined up a diverse range of STEM-themed activities and events designed to cater to all ages. From STEM-themed Storytimes and hands-on activities to interactive science shows, there's something for everyone. Here's a sneak peek of what to expect:
- Hacking Skills with the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade: Hone your hacking skills by advancing levels through a computer game.
- Creepy Crawlies with Echoes of Nature: Get up close with fascinating insects and creatures and learn how they contribute to our ecosystem.
- Eric Energy's Vortex Fog Rings: Learn about weather science with Eric Energy's interactive demonstration featuring vortex fog rings and bubbling potions.
- Spooky STEM with the Science Guys of Baltimore: Explore the spookier side of STEM with fun demonstrations of chemistry reactions and physics experiments.
- The Healing Power of Chemistry: Learn how chemistry plays a role in medicine and healthcare from an expert chemist in the American Chemical Society.
If you want to stay involved and continue your STEM journey beyond the festival, don't forget to check out our upcoming events calendar for free STEM programs and activities. We offer a wide range of programs and activities that kids and families can enjoy. Don't forget you can even use the MakerSpace at Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library and the Creation Station at Odenton Library to bring your STEM ideas to life with tools like 3D Pens, the Cricut machine or Button Maker. If you're not sure how to get started or want some help, you can schedule a one-on-one appointment with our staff to learn how to use the MakerSpace and Creation Station tools safely.
