If I See You Again Tomorrow by Robbie Couch is a wholehearted novel about a 17-year-old teenage boy named Clark, who is stuck in a time loop. He is stuck reliving Monday every single day, over and over. Clark tries to figure out what’s happening to him, wondering how he can possibly break the time loop. He’s also dealing with the fact that his best friend has moved away and is making new friends, while he’s stuck being lonely. Clark is additionally navigating his feelings for a new student, Beau.
This novel discusses many different themes, like self-discovery and the importance of focusing on living in the moment. In this novel, the characters seem like real people because of the way their feelings are expressed in the book’s situations, which mirror those of real life.
This story kept me very intrigued. The plot was interesting, and I wanted to know what was going to happen next. My favorite aspect of the book was the multiple underground lessons being taught from the story, because I love it when books have many different lessons coming from one plot (depending on how you look at the events!) One thing that was really well done in this novel was the blending between human conditions with the fantastical elements.
This book takes the readers along on a self-discovery journey through Clark’s eyes. The story certainly made me emotional because of how relatable it was. Overall, this novel is amazing and worth the time, and I suggest it for middle school readers.
