Dr. STONE by Riichiro Inagaki

Dr. STONE is a manga series that focuses on science-loving teenager Senku and his friends as they wake up in a world where every last person has been turned to stone. It’s now in the 5700s and the Earth has become a human-less wilderness. In this new world, Senku must use his scientific knowledge to rebuild society from the very beginning and make discoveries one by one.

I loved the entire premise of this book, from the world-building to the execution of the idea as a whole. It’s captivating and different and delivered with interesting and humorous characters. I could not get enough of this series!

The only thing I would say I had a problem with was that the set-up is a little bit unrealistic, with a main character who seems to have endless knowledge and who can remain calm in a changed world. But that also adds a strength and uniqueness to Senku’s character that makes him a much more likable person.

I would recommend this to people who like sci-fi, humor, and overall a unique premise with great characters. However, it does have a lot of scientific terminology and content that might not be good for younger children. Besides that, I think this story can be enjoyed by people across a range of ages.
