Black Wings Beating is a book about Brysen and Kylee who are forced to pick up their father’s business of falconry. Kylee has the skill but she wants nothing to do with it. Brysen, on the other hand, has no talent in falconry and wants more than anything to be a great falconer. Together, they journey into the mountains to catch the Ghost Eagle. Brysen is going for the honor of trapping the Ghost Eagle. Kylee is going to protect her brother.
One thing I liked about this book was the imagery, because I felt like I could see exactly what was happening in the story. I specifically liked reading the parts where they were trapping the birds because I thought it was really interesting to see how they worked together.
One thing I disliked about this book was the ending. Even though I know it’s part of a series and that the storyline will continue, the end of the book left me with a lot of questions.
I would recommend this book to readers who like fantasy and adventure. The world that Brysen and Kylee live in is dependent on the falconers and it was interesting to see how people reacted to Kylee’s natural ability with the birds.
