After graduating from high school all Josie Hazeldine wants to do is take over her family's bee-keeping business and shop, Hazeldine Honey. However, her mother’s only wish is for her daughter to go to college. Josie applies and gets accepted to a local college but rejects the offer and has not told her mom or her best friend yet. Things get complicated when Josie meets Ezra, and they begin to fall for each other. However, Ezra is a Blumstein, Hazeldine Honey’s biggest rival and sworn enemy. Josie’s mom would not approve of their relationship.
Between You, Me, and the Honeybees was a very simple, but enjoyable book about summer romance. Josie was a loveable character with accurate anxiety representation. Despite her flaws and mistakes, I still found myself rooting for her. Her passion for beekeeping really shined through and it was so interesting to learn about beekeeping. The small-town setting was also a perfect addition to the plotline. Finally, Ezra was the sweetest and most wholesome character towards Josie. The only thing I disliked was that the stakes never really felt that high. Josie and Ezra struggled with the same issues portrayed in all young adult romances. However, this book did have other plot points that kept it interesting in my opinion. All in all, I would recommend this book to those looking for a nice summer romance, those interested in beekeeping, or both!
