Spring is in the air, the trees are beginning to bud, and Anne Arundel County Public Library is full of beautiful artwork! For over four decades, the library has partnered with our friends at Anne Arundel County Public Schools to host Art in Our Schools.
Art in Our Schools is a local celebration of the visual arts to encourage support for quality art programs. Under the national initiative, Youth Art Month, administered by the Council for Art Education, each library showcases a unique student exhibition, featuring selected visual art pieces from the neighboring public elementary schools of students from Pre-K through fifth grade.
The exhibit will run from March 1 through March 22 this year, so be sure to give yourself a few extra minutes the next time you visit your local library to experience a little sunshine from some of the county's youngest artists. We promise your day will be brighter!
On Wednesday, March 15 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, all libraries (with the exception of Riviera Beach Library) will host Community Open Houses. All are invited to stop by to view the students’ artwork and meet the featured artists.
Be sure to visit our events calendar for educational programs to inspire your inner artist. If you cannot make it to the library, you can take advantage of Creativebug, one of the exclusive resources available to AACPL library card holders. Creativebug has thousands of arts and crafts video classes covering all interests.
