Mr. York is a senior strategist at Coursera, working with universities and corporations to provide learners around the world with equitable access to flexible, job-relevant online education. Previously, he worked as a government consultant for IBM and a project manager for the Chickasaw Nation.
He served five years in the United States Marine Corp, where he learned Arabic and served two tours in Iraq. After his enlistment, he attended The George Washington University, graduating with a Master of Business Administration and a bachelor’s in international affairs.
Mr. York is passionate about learning and believes in its power to transform lives and communities. He hopes to use his professional experience to help the library continue growing and modernizing in support of learners across the county. He lives in Edgewater with his wife and two daughters, and he enjoys kayaking and reading in his spare time.
