Sandra O. Meade High School.
The book "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" by Holly Jackson is about a high school student named Pippa Fitz-Amobi who chooses to investigate a closed murder case for a school project. The case is about the disappearance and assumed murder of a popular girl in town, Andie Bell, and the suicide of her boyfriend Sal Singh who is believed to be the killer. As Pippa digs deeper into the case, she makes new bonds, finds new secrets, and uncovers lies surrounding the case. The book is the first book in the 3 book series. The other two books help move the story along but it is not necessary to read to enjoy this book.
I liked how the character in the book felt real. They are high school students and the main character Pippa or Pip is shown to have school pressures, friendships, and family dynamics. The way the characters interact with each other is realistic and relatable which makes it easy to connect with them. The book had twists and suspense to it. I liked how the story kept me guessing and on my toes until the very end of the book. One thing I disliked about the book is the slow pacing at the beginning of the book. It might seem boring at first in the earlier chapters. The high school setting and plot are a bit cliche but the plot and mystery of the story make up for it. I would recommend this book to older high school readers who are fans of mystery and fast-paced books.
