Aurora's End by Amie Kaufman

Marcus B. South River High School.

The ancient ruin that Aurora was frozen on has finally been rediscovered , but the team is trapped on a space station after Kal’s sister blows up their ship. To escape they rob a bank to receive a dead drop left for them by the heads of the academy that includes keys to a new ship. After escaping the space station they head for the ruins , but she catches them while they’re all split up there and easily brings them onto her ship.

I liked how they handled the magic system with the users being basically unbeatable but to use their powers they have to sacrifice their lifespan and have nothing that they care about at all. I also liked how they expanded on the culture of the Unbroken and made it more fleshed out than just being brutal and violent for the sake of being brutal and violent like it had been explained to be previously. I did dislike how the time dilation within the training zone would affect Aurora and Kal was almost entirely glossed over and ignored. All in all, I recommend the Aurora Cycle to anyone who likes sci-fi/fantasy and doesn’t mind a three book series.
