The Third Act by John Wilson is a book that tells the story of two groups of people in two different time periods. In the present day, Pike, Tone, and Theresa are college students from China that are studying in America who are involved in an unfinished play written by Peterson. Meanwhile, in 1937, Peterson, Hill, and Lily are caught in the Nanjing Massacre and are trying to help people while staying out of trouble. However, with a possible traitor among them, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain their safety.
The book is filled with vivid details and an action-packed storyline that makes it hard to put down. The dialogue is particularly well-developed, keeping you on the edge of your seat and eagerly waiting for the next line. The characters have life-like flaws and behave in a way that is relatable to real people. Scenes like kidnappings and rescues develop suspense and mystery fast but just slowly enough to keep you reading. The story is packed with the aforementioned suspense and mystery, making it an engaging read from beginning to end. Some scenes and language may not be suitable for younger readers. However, for those who enjoy mystery, suspense, and action, The Third Act is a book that is a must-read for its detailed dialogue and addicting storyline.
