Sunreach by Brandon Sanderson is a short novel told from the perspective of FM, a flightmate of Spensa. This is set in the time of the book Starsight. It shows the adventures of FM, Jorgen, Rig, and friends while Spensa is trying to steal hyperdrive technology from the Superiority. Jorgen finds a nest of taynix and is trying to figure out how to use them, while Rig and FM are observing and experimenting on them.
This book is a quick read that can be enjoyed at any time and in any location. Reading the previous books (Skyward and Starsight) is recommended to get the full story behind the group's adventures. The characters feel real, like Rig being awkward around FM and FM's confusion toward Rig's actions. The story develops a fledgling relationship between Rig and FM, while still providing plenty of information relevant to the plot. This book is excellent at providing information for imagery and also contains well-developed dialogue.
The story is hard to put down because of its leading nature and takes you on a wild ride on Platform Prime finding taynix and even a fighting scene. I recommend this book to any science fiction lover because this book is sure to delight anyone who picks it up!
