Five Survive by Holly Jackson is a thrilling young adult novel that takes readers on a wild ride through the wilderness. The story follows five teenagers who are on their way to a boarding school when their private plane crashes in the Canadian wilderness. With no one else around and limited supplies, the group must band together to survive the harsh conditions and find a way back to civilization. However, as tensions rise and secrets are revealed, the teens quickly realize that their biggest threat may not be the wilderness, but each other.
What I love about the book is that the characters are well-developed and complex, each with their own unique personalities and motivations. The author does an excellent job of exploring the dynamics among the group as they struggle to survive together. The story is told from multiple perspectives, allowing readers to see the situation from each character's point of view. This adds depth to the story and keeps readers like me engaged throughout. Another one of its strengths is its vivid descriptions of the wilderness. The author creates a beautiful and terrifying picture of the Canadian wilderness, making readers feel as though they are right there with the characters. The author's attention to detail and use of sensory language immerses readers in the story and creates a sense of urgency and danger. Overall, it’s a gripping and suspenseful novel that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Jackson's writing is engaging and well-crafted, making this a must-read for fans of young adult thrillers.
