The second installment of Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff's "Aurora Cycle," Aurora Burning, continues where the first left off, throwing Squad 312—our motley crew of heroes—into a desperate struggle for life. They are on the run from an ancient evil that wants to devour everything, having been labeled as terrorists and being pursued by the galaxy. Although having read the first book beforehand might improve the experience, Aurora Burning dives right into the action, making it suitable for readers of all skill levels.
Numerous points of view are used to tell the story, which presents a rainbow of characters and reasons. Every character, from the impetuous and ferociously devoted Scarlett to the mysterious and strong Auri, struggles with their background, their role in the cosmos, and the consequences of their decisions. They have clever banter between them. The rapid-fire narrative flow of Aurora Burning is what really makes the book stand out. The action never stops, from daring heists on space stations to risky escapes from pursuing pursuers. You'll be gripped from the very first to the very last page by the writers' expert weaving together of great wars and human difficulties.
Nonetheless, some readers may find themselves desiring more in-depth character or emotional development due to the nonstop action-packed scenes. Even if the wide array of individuals is diverse and engaging, there are moments when it becomes too much to handle.
Aurora Burning is an excellent space opera that offers action, adventure, and a lighthearted touch. Just be ready for an amazing trip that ends on a cliffhanger, setting up the thrilling finale in the final book.
