Anne Arundel County Public Library Cancels Events, Meetings
Annapolis, Md., (March 12, 2020) – Officials from the Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL), relying on advice from public health officials, are canceling all programs, events and meeting room bookings through May 2.
These cancellations include the upcoming ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library and the Grand Opening Community Day. At this time, the new library is still expected to open on April 29. The Library Foundation’s annual For the Love of the Library fundraising gala has been postponed. That event and the highly anticipated community day will be rescheduled. The Severn Library grand reopening event, scheduled for March 20, is also canceled.
“We regret having to cancel these events but feel it’s in the best interest of the health and safety of our community,” said Library CEO Skip Auld.
In addition to canceling events and programs, some public computers will be taken out of service to promote safe social distancing. Disposable keyboard and mouse covers have been ordered and will be encouraged for use. Library staff have elevated cleaning and sanitizing measures in all public area shared surfaces and hand-held toys will be removed from our children’s areas.
At this time, all library branches remain open and will continue to operate with standard hours. The library will continue to offer book holds at every location and our Library By Mail service will continue for approved customers.
The library encourages customers to take advantage of the system’s extensive digital collection of ebooks, eaudiobooks, emagazines, streaming movies, music and databases available on its website at www.aacpl.net/ebooks.Customers can stay updated on changes to library services through the library’s social media channels and on our website at www.aacpl.net.
