Hannah Lane will describe methods and resources related to African American genealogy research and for researching enslaved ancestors in Maryland. Reflecting on her personal experiences in working with government records, Hannah will discuss how researchers can contend with the challenges and complexities that can often arise in genealogy research.
Hannah Lane is a research archivist at the Maryland State Archives. Serving the Study of the Legacy of Slavery department, Hannah’s interests include resistance to enslavement in Maryland and African American music entertainment history in Baltimore.
