Mr. Seay is currently retired after working more than 35 years as a practicing attorney, legal consultant and active business investor. He was admitted to the Bar in the District Columbia in 1973, where he now holds retired status.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Political Science from Howard University in 1969, and his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 1972. While attending Georgetown, he was editor of the Journal of International Law and Policy. After law school, he worked as an associate at Arent, Fox in Washington, DC until 1977, and through 1987 Mr. Seay was senior partner at Davenport & Seay, in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Seay worked as a lawyer consultant and business investor in various endeavors from 1985 to 2008, including serving as a significant shareholder and Loan Committee Chairman of Berkley Federal Savings Bank in Norfolk, Virginia; partner in several Washington, D.C. office building endeavors which were absorbed into publically traded Boston Properties REIT in 1997; and Vice President for Business Development at Genuario Properties in Alexandria, Virginia until 2012.
In earlier years, his civic activities included serving on the Alexandria Hospital Planning Committee, the Highland Beach Board of Appeals and as Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington D.C. More recently, he engaged in major fundraising activities for the United Way of the National Capital Area from 2008 to 2009.
